Don Listwin: Chairman
Don Listwin is founder and chairman of Canary Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted exclusively to early detection of cancer. A 25-year veteran of the technology industry, Don was CEO of Openwave from 2000 to 2004 and held senior executive positions at Cisco Systems between 1990 and 2000. Don also serves on the board of directors at Sana Security, Genologics, and Stratos Bioscience. He has previously served on the boards of Openwave, JDS Uniphase, Redback Networks, TIBCO Software, E-Tek, and the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA). Don is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle Washington. A native of Canada, Listwin holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and an honorary doctorate of law from the University of Saskatchewan.
Michael Ashby: Director
Michael recently retired as CFO for Calix and remains a member of the board of directors and audit committee. Prior to Calix, Michael was vice-president of finance at Cisco, with responsibility for financial planning and investor relations. Michael joined Cisco in 1999 as a result of the acquisition of Cerent Corporation, where he was CFO. Prior to Cerent, Michael was executive vice president and CFO of Ascend Communications (later purchased by Lucent). Earlier, Michael was vice president and CFO at Pacific Bell (later purchased by SBC). Michael has also held the executive management positions of CFO, president, and CEO at Network Systems Corporation, and CFO of Teradata Corporation.
Michael Everett: Director
Michael Everett has over 30 years of financial, legal, and general management experience, including two different stints in China. Michael currently serves as a financial executive at Cisco Systems, Inc. and was chief financial officer of WebEx Communications prior to Cisco's $3.2 billion acquisition of the web collaboration leader. Prior to joining WebEx, Michael was chief financial officer of several public and private companies, including Netro Corporation, a broadband wireless equipment manufacturer that he led through a successful IPO in 1999, and Raychem Corporation, a Fortune 500 telecommunications and electronic components supplier. Before joining Raychem in 1987, he practiced securities law as a partner at Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe. Michael holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Robert Finzi: Co-Managing Partner, Sprout Group
Robert (Bob) Finzi, co-managing partner of Sprout Group since 2003, has more than 25 years in venture capital and board experience with a variety of high tech companies. Bob joined Sprout Group as a general partner in May 1991 from Merrill Lynch Venture Capital, where he had served as partner since 1985. Previously, he was an associate with Menlo Ventures and served as a consultant with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). Bob currently sits on the boards at Aurora Networks, CyOptics, and Trade Beam. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and BS and MS from Lehigh University.
Michael Flynn: Director
Michael T. Flynn has served as a director of Calix since September 2004. Most recently, Michael served as an officer of ALLTEL Corporation, an integrated telecommunications provider of wireless, local telephone, long-distance, competitive local exchange, Internet and high-speed data services. Previous positions at ALLTEL include Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, Group President of Communications and President of the Telephone Group. Since July 2001 Mr. Flynn has served on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Airspan Networks, a publicly-traded company providing wireless broadband access equipment. Since January 2004 he has been a member of the Board of Directors and Audit and Compensation Committees of WebEx Communications, a publicly-traded company providing web collaboration services. Michael has also served on the Board of Directors GENBAND, and BayPackets. Michael earned his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1970. He attended the Dartmouth Institute in 1986 and the Harvard Advanced Management Program in 1988.
Adam Grosser: General Partner, Foundation Capital
Adam Grosser is currently general partner at Foundation Capital. Prior to joining Foundation Capital, Adam was president of Excite@Home's 1,400-person Subscriber Networks division, as well as co-founder, president and CEO of Catapult Entertainment. Before his startup life, Adam worked at technology innovators Apple Computer, Lucasfilm, and Sony in engineering and management capacities. He currently serves on the boards of Control4, Conviva, EnerNOC (ENOC), GridIron, Naverus, Rohati, SiBEAM and Silver Spring Networks. In addition, he has previously served on the boards of Arroyo (CSCO), Alteon WebSystems (NT), Peribit Networks (JNPR) and Traverse Networks (AV). Adam holds a BA in applied science, as well as a master's degree in science and an MBA from Stanford University. Adam is also a lecturer at the UCLA School of Film and Television, and contributes to National Public Radio's Marketplace.
Michael Marks: Founding Partner, Riverwood Capital
Michael Marks is currently founding partner of Riverwood Capital, and was a partner and senior advisor at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) in 2006 and 2007. Prior to KKR, Michael spent 13 years as CEO of Flextronics International Ltd. and built the company from $93 million to $25 billion. During his tenure, which culminated in chairman, Michael established operations in over 35 countries and integrated over 100 acquisitions. Electronic Business Magazine has named Michael one of the Top Ten Most Influential Executives in Silicon Valley History and CEO of the Year for the year 2003. He is a director of SanDisk Corporation, Schlumberger Limited, Zappos.com, Inc., the V Foundation for Cancer Research (non-profit), and the National Parks Conservation Association (non-profit). Michael earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BA and MA from Oberlin College.
Carl Russo: President and Chief Executive Officer
Carl is president and CEO of Calix and a member of the board of directors. Carl has over 25 years of experience in the networking and telecommunications industries. Prior to taking an active role with Calix in December, 2002, Carl was a member of the Calix board of directors. Before that, Carl was vice president of optical strategy and group vice president of optical networking for Cisco. Carl joined Cisco in 1999 as a result of the acquisition of Cerent Corporation, where he was president and CEO. Before Cerent, Carl was COO at Xircom (later acquired by Intel), where he was responsible for sales, marketing, development, and manufacturing of all Xircom products. Carl has also held executive management positions at Network Systems Corporation (later acquired by StorageTek) and at AT&T Paradyne. At Network Systems, Carl was the senior vice president and general manager for the Hyperchannel Networking Group, and at AT&T Paradyne he was vice president and general manager of the data networking products division. Carl sits on the board of directors for the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). Carl is an alumnus of Swarthmore College and serves on its board of trustees.
